GenesisCare is striving to better support patients that have been in their care by providing patients with access to Cancer Council NSW’s free healthy lifestyle program - ENRICHing Survivorship.
Research has shown that a healthy diet and being physically active can enhance the physical and emotional health of cancer survivors and importantly, living a healthy lifestyle can reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.
ENRICHing Survivorship is a free group-based program comprised of eight, two hour, face to face, weekly sessions. The program introduces participants to a range of nutrition information, involvement in physical activity and practical information and discussion about adjusting to life following cancer treatment. Carers, partners or family members are welcome, and encouraged to attend.
GenesisCare is working with Cancer Council NSW to deliver the program to local communities - to motivate, empower and improve survivor’s lifestyle behaviours.
Over the course of the program attendees will:
Hear nutrition recommendations to help them make better food choices, facilitated by an Accredited Practicing Dietitian
Find out how to safely improve their fitness, muscle strength and stamina. Begin to reduce fatigue, nausea, pain and anxiety by increasing exercise, facilitated by an Exercise Physiologist
Practice yoga & mindfulness techniques designed to improve sleep and reduce anxiety, guided by a qualified yoga instructor
Connect with others on a similar journey, share tips and ideas to help live their life well.
ENRICHing Survivorship will take place at a venue close to each of our NSW clinics in Newcastle, Macquarie, North Sydney, Darlinghurst and Hurstville.
